Elon Musk writes a letter to all the special people he contributes the success of his company to. This letter is not public, unlike other Musk announcements which he does on Twitter and other social media. This year however, Wired let the public have a look on the 2017 version of Elon Musk's Christmas letter.
In his letter, he makes a point of how he records time. He joked about being a Martian. He said that even he cannot deny how things were progressing and they had achieved a lot of goals.
He said that SpaceX completed 15 years. He referred to it as Space X’s age. He said that Space X successfully launch its 12th resupply mission to the International Space Station this summer.
Tesla completed 14 year or it’s age is 14. He wrote that the company had promised to start deliveries of its affordable Model 3 sedan in summer, and they made it happen. He emphasized on the features of the car mentioning huge glass roof, innovative touchscreen interface, and all the acceleration.
He made sure to mention the 400,000 people who have pre-ordered the Model 3 sedan. He mentioned the recently released Tesla electric semitruck and called it a precocious teen.
OpenAI and Neuralink with ages 2 and 1 respectively were next on his list. He wrote that he had always thought about merging human brains with computers, and two of his youngest projects had made that happen.
He wrote that OpenAI is using surprisingly svelte sumo wrestlers to make artificial intelligence smarter and nimbler. A technology he hopes will come in handy in helping Tesla with that AI chip it’s making for Autopilot.
The newest and youngest project worth mentioning in his letter is The Boring Company at age 1. He wrote about the company’s activities including digging tunnels under SpaceX’s headquarters in Los Angeles and under Baltimore.
He said that Boring are completely proficient about his ambition regarding public transit. Boring has reassured him that these tunnels will be for fancy hyperloops and private cars on electric sleds, only.
He ended the letter addressing his friends and fans, comrades and competitors, investors short and long, my best tidings and wished them and his projects well.
