Your WowWee Fingerlings stopped working? If it worked before, then you just have to flip the on-off switch as it went into power safe mode. Christmas morning can have its stressful moments if the highly anticipated toy doesn't work. Years ago, you would be stuck and have to try to fix it on your own or call a friend. Now you can just "google" and find the answer to your problem.
Especially tech toys and video game consoles can have challenges in making them work. We collected some good resources for this year's most popular tech toys and video game consoles that help you find a solution to the problems you might encounter with your new toys on Christmas Day.
The WowWee Fingerlings are the hottest toy of the year and a lot of households will have at least one of the baby monkeys under their Christmas tree today. The $15 electronics toys are surprisingly well built and the batteries in the ones I got in September are still good. If it looks cheap, you likely ended up with a fake Fingerlings. WowWee has published this handy getting started guide, answering the basic questions and solves the most common problems.
The Lego Boost Creative toolbox is the most exciting new Lego set, but also complex as it requires a smart device. There are no printed manuals anymore. You just use the instructions in the app to build Boost creations. Lego recently released the Boost app also for the iPhone. It's though best to use an iPad or Android tablet. The Boost app works on the cheap Amazon Fire tablets. You can check if your smart device is compatible with the Boost app on lego.com.
The Boost app is guiding builders through the build and the programming. Along the way, users unlock levels. It's so well guided that parents can be hands off. If you run into a problem with Lego Boost, Lego has a special support section with answers to frequently asked questions.
One of the things I hope Lego Boost is improving in the next set is to add a loudspeaker brick. The sound right now comes from the smart device, which is not very engaging. My son and I also ran into problems with the auto builder. It would not always pick up the bricks. We ended up using two rubber bands. Also, the transport was not always in sync with the picker. Moving the transport back and forth a couple times is fixing that issue.
The Nintendo Switch is one of the biggest Holiday gifts for kids this year. I already witnessed my 7-year-old and 9-year-old sons flip out over Santa bringing them the Switch. Getting a Switch really is like in this viral video.
The Nintendo Switch community is already awaiting all the new Switch owners on reddit. If you got stuck in a game or ran into other issues with the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch sub-reddit is a good place to find an answer.
The Nintendo support page of the Nintendo Switch has pretty much all questions you might have answered. This is the advantage of the Spring release of the Nintendo Switch. Millions of people already have a Switch and most problems have already come up and are solved.
Having a Switch is causing to buy some accessories that make life more convenient. We have four controllers and charging them on the Switch console is cumbersome. I already put an order in for this Joy-Con Charge stand.
Cozmo by Anki Robot:
Another very popular tech toy this Holiday season is the cute Cozmo robot from Anki. In case you have problems with Cozmo like connecting to Cozmo, there are FAQs available on the Ank support site here. It appears finding Cozmo's Wi-fi password is a common and current problem. Anki's customer care just updated this document about the Wi-Fi password, which is displayed on Cozmo's screen.
