The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket caused the biggest UFO sighting of 2017. The internet lit up with photos and videos of the rocket lighting up the sky. SpaceX launched the Falcon 9 fro the Vandenberg Air Force Base at 5:27 p.m Pacific time. People in Los Angeles got surprised by the unusual sight and did not know initially what it was until it became clear that the UFO is a SpaceX rocket.
Elon Musk had a lot of fun on social media with the UFO sighting. The rocket was carrying 10 satellites to low-Earth orbit for Iridium Communications. The mission was again a full success and all 10 satellites are operational.
The Falcon 9 launch was not enough to keep Musk busy. He also revealed a series of incredible photos of an original Tesla Roadster getting loaded on the Falcon Heavy rocket. He is coming through on his idea to send Tesla to Mars as test payload.
"Test flights of new rockets usually contain mass simulators in the form of concrete or steel blocks. That seemed extremely boring. Of course, anything boring is terrible, especially companies, so we decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel. The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing Space Oddity, on a billion year elliptic Mars orbit," says Elon Musk on Instagram.
SpaceX is still trending #1 on Twitter hours after the rocket launch. TV networks have to edit their 2017 end-of-the-year reviews.
