- Amazon Sumerian service helps any developer to quickly and easily build virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D applications for popular hardware platforms
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Inc. announced its Amazon Sumerian service during the AWS re:Invent Midnight Madness kick-off event. It happens to be a novel service that allows any developer to make VR, AR and 3D applications and run them on any platform.
The platforms include: mobile phones, head-mounted displays (HMDs) and web browsers. A whole lot can be done with the Sumerian service. Amazon Sumerian’s editor allows developers to build realistic VR environments as well as people them with 3D objects and animated players. The interactions will naturally follow.
The VR and AR apps build in Amazon Sumerian will run in any browser that supports WebGL or WebVR graphics rendering, including Daydream, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and iOS mobile devices, thereby making the job of the developers an easy one. Beginning with the Sumerian service is very easy. In fact, it is as simple as logging into your AWS Management Console.
There is no software to install or upfront costs—customers pay only for the storage used for 3D assets and the volume of traffic generated to access the virtual scenes they create. To learn more about Amazon Sumerian,
No extra software is needed to install and the whole service is for free. The only cash that needs to be expended is that for storage used for 3D assets on the platform and the volume of traffic generated to access the virtual scenes they create.
Many consumers use VR and AR to superimpose imaginary objects on the real world. The applications are myriad and include: training simulations, concierge services, retail therapy and land tours. Until now the creation of virtual models was not an easy job.
However, Amazon Sumerian service makes it all seem like a cinch. The caliber of work produced thanks to Sumerian is of professional standards. Amazon Sumerian also allows the usage of AWS service.
The consumers across the board see a niche for VR and AR facilities. These facilities seem to be the wave of the future. Thanks to this scheme of things, all the wonderful technology, that engendered the sort of special effects seen in the movies, can be recreated by ordinary developers. It is a miracle in terms of AI.
“Customers across industries see the potential of VR and AR technologies for a wide range of uses—from educating and training employees to creating new customer experiences. But, customers are daunted and overwhelmed by the up-front investment in specialized skills and tools required to even get started building a VR or AR application,” said Marco Argenti, Vice President, Technology, AWS.
“With Amazon Sumerian, it is now possible for any developer to create a realistic, interactive VR or AR application in a few hours.”
Some of the features of the Amazon Sumerian service are: an Editor, an Object Library, Asset Import, Scripting Library, Hosts and AWS Service Integration.
According to AWS, with Amazon Sumerian, developers can design immersive VR, AR, and 3D environments; easily create animated characters powered by AWS AI services; deploy applications to popular VR and AR hardware.
There is a whole lot more to this service than meets the eye. Amazon Sumerian is an excellent tool for developers and one that they could well use to fulfill all their wishes as well as the wishes of the public they cater to.
